First I would like to start giving the definition we can find in Wilkipedia on women's day: The International Women's Day, originally called the International Day of Working Women's Day is March 8 and is recognized by the United Nations, UN. This day commemorates the struggle of women for their participation, on equal terms with men in society and integral development as a person. Is a national holiday in some countries.
The idea of an international day of women arose at the end of the nineteenth century, the industrial revolution and during the rise of the labor movement. The celebration includes a fight has already begun in ancient Greece and reflected by Aristophanes in his play Lysistrata, which counts as Lysistrata initiated a sexual strike against men to end the war, and that was reflected in the French Revolution: Women Paris, calling for freedom, equality and fraternity marched on Versailles to demand women's suffrage, but it was not until the early twentieth century when they began to proclaim, from different international organizations left, holding a day of struggle specific to women and their rights.
Secondly, this article will explain what we have done in our school to mark the international day for women. This will explain what students of the first cycle (1º and 2º of the ESO) and students of second cycle (3º and 4º) studied and did for this international womwn´s day in IES Ntra. Sra. de la Estrella secondary school.
First the students of 1st and 2nd of ESO played a game called Who am I? using the new technologies with computers. To do this, they had to find ten names of important women throughout history by following tracks, which were detailed in the blog of coeducation: www.estrellacoeduca.blogspot.com.
Once found the names of women, students in groups of four had to write a biographical panel in honour of one great woman throughout history. All murals were placed in the hall of the school so they could be seen by everyone in our school. In the mural should include the name of the woman, date of birth and / or death, the age / s, flag and country of birth, a portrait and brief biography narrated in first person about that chosen woman. The truth is that our school was highly decorated with some of the murals of the following women.
On the other hand, students in 3rd , 4th of ESO and 1st and 2nd of PCPI during weeks 5 to 9 March and 12 to 16 March, the students saw the movie "Erin Brochovich" and then reflected on the message film as an oral discussion in class. Why this film? We think that the protagonist starring Julia Roberts reflects a profile of working women at all times struggling to find work and make a better life for their children
